Editorial policy

Global Notebook aims to publish clear, careful work about geography and global affairs. Accuracy, context, and a fair account of uncertainty matter more than a tidy conclusion.

Accuracy and context

We check names, dates, definitions, and factual claims against appropriate material before publication. We seek enough context to explain what a claim means and what it does not establish. When evidence or interpretation is disputed, we make that distinction clear rather than presenting one account as settled fact.

Independence

Editorial decisions belong to the publication. Commercial relationships do not determine our conclusions, and a partner cannot buy favourable coverage or editorial approval. We avoid presenting opinion as fact and make the scope of an article clear to readers.

Corrections

If a published article contains a meaningful error, we review the concern and correct the text when warranted. Readers can send a correction through the Contact page, identifying the article and the passage at issue. We aim to make substantive changes clear in the article.

Partner material and illustrations

Paid, commissioned, or partner-supported material is identified clearly so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial work. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; where that is the case, we label them accordingly and do not present them as documentary images.
